Introduction: 1914/05/15 – 06/30 there was an “Exposition d’art français du XIXe siècle” (Fransk Malerkunst fra det 19nde Aarhundrede) in the Musée royale (Statens Museum for Kunst) organised by the Dansk Kunstmuseums Forening Copenhague. Official French and Danish representatives were involved and also many (French) art-dealers, art-collectors and artists. The following artists were well represented: Corot (11 paintings +9 other art-works), Delacroix (10+14), Renoir (12), Sisley (11) and Monet (10). 18 of the 57 partakers of the ‘impressionist’ expositions showed about 105 art-works. This is almost 30% of the total of 356 exhibited art-works! Note: additional info and much more pictures have to be added.

Info on the catalogue: The catalogue indicates that 4 representatives of the French government were involved and also of the Danish government. Several (French) art-dealers, art-collectors and artists were involved, including Monet and Renoir.
The preface was written by Karl Madsen. He refers to an earlier exhibition in 1888, which presented a random collection. This exposition aims a rich, varied and representative selection of works by leading artists (just like the Saint-Petersburg exposition of 1912). David, Ingres and Géricault are explicitly mentioned. Summed up are Delacroix, Corot, Millet, Rousseau, Daumier and Courbet. Also the “impressionists” are summed up: Manet, Berthe Morisot, Renoir, Degas, Sisley, Claude Monet, Pissarro, Guillaumin, Gauguin and Cézanne. Summed up are remarkable works of Barye, Chassériau, Daubigny, Puvis de Chavannes, Fantin-Latour and Toulouse-Lautrec. He also mentions recent works of “Futuristes” and “Synchromistes”.
Among the collectors the relatives of Henri Rouart are explicitly mentioned.
The catalogue is divided in paintings (nos 1-216) and drawings, pastels and aquarelles (nos. 217-356).
The catalogue renders 23 prints, including one of Monet, Renoir and Sisley.
