Raffaëlli, Jean-François, 1880 expo

Impressionism, a historical reconstruction:

Jean-François Raffaëlli

(1850-1924)

at the 5th ‘impressionist’ exposition in 1880

an impression of his exhibited art-works

Which art-works did Raffaëlli exhibit in 1880?
On this page you will see an accounted impression of the about 46 art-works that Jean-François Raffaëlli probably showed at the 5th ‘impressionist’ exposition of 1880 in Paris (catalogue numbers 144-179+3hc). With this large amount of art-works you could say that he was treated as a guest of honour. Raffaëlli depicted many ragpickers and many waste lands. It included at least 10 etchings, 12 aquarelles and 3 pastels. I render the pictures in order of form and in a more thematical order. At the end you will find the etchings he had exhibited. Note: If you double click on the first (of a cluster of) pictures and then click on full screen, you can create a slideshow. On a smartphone or laptop you can also zoom in. Enjoy!

Exhibited etchings:
Note 1: I render 3 pictures for no.164, which contained more than 1 number. Note 2: I render just 2 out of 3 states for no.167.

Clarification:
Raffaëlli showed 3 works outside the catalogue (=hc). Several catalogue numbers consisted of more than one art-work. Quite often the identification is uncertain, see, therefore I sometimes render more than one option. See link for an account. See link for identification of pictures. See link for an explanation of the subscriptions. See for the used sources at the bottom of the main page about Jean-François Raffaëlli.
