Clarification: On this page you find accounted suggestions for the about 20 art-works that were shown by Degas at the 5th ‘impressionist’ exposition in 1880 (catalogue numbers: 33-44+hc3). You will also find pictures of the no. 33 + 34, works that weren’t exhibited. You will also find suggestions for the numbers 35 + 36 + 37, works that maybe weren’t exhibited. Some catalogue numbers contained more than 1 art-work. I assume that no. 42 and 43 both contained 2 drawings / pastels. I assume that no.44 (Eaux-fortes. Essais et états de planches) contained 4 studies and states of 2 different plates so in total 8 etchings. I render to compare 4 additional drawings and pastels. Probably Degas also showed 3 works that were not in the catalogue (=hc), probably 1 oil (hc1), 1 pastel + tempera (hc2) and 1 pastel (hc3). Sometimes the identification of a picture is ‘uncertain’, see. See link for an account. See also a thematical overview of his exhibited art-works. For explanation of the subscriptions, see. See for the used sources at the bottom of the main page about Edgar Degas.
