Impressionism, a historical reconstruction:

Claude Monet

(1840-1926)

overview paintings

Intro:
On this page you will find an overview of 350+ pictures of Claude Monet that are used on this website. The emphasize is on the works shown at the ‘impressionist’ expositions (in 1874, 1876, 1877, 1879 and 1882), at the Salon, at other exhibitions and at specific locations. The works will be shown in a chronological order.
Mostly there will be referred to the second version of the Catalogue Raisonné of Wildenstein of 1996 (=R22); see online version at WPI (=iR182). This has the same numbers as the first version of 1874-91 (=R127) and some additional numbers (5a etc.). You can find the number after the ‘CR’ code. See also the overview given by WikiPedia, divided in 10 periods (iR3). See also the subscriptions of the pictures.
You will notice that in most of his paintings in the landscape is prominent. At a seperate page you will find (again) other themes: portraits and figure paintings; (prominent) figures in a landscape and still lifes. On this page you will also find works done with other techniques, like pastels. See other themes and techniques.
Note: additional pictures (made after 1882) will be added.
Note: If you double click on the first picture and then click on full screen, you can create a slideshow. In about 30 minutes you will see an extended overview of the paintings Monet made. Enjoy!
