Impressionism, a historical reconstruction:

Alfred Sisley

(1839-1899)

overview pictures

Intro:
On this page you will an overview of 275+ pictures of Alfred Sisley that are used on this website. The emphasize is on the works shown at the ‘impressionist’ expositions (in 1874, 1876, 1877, and 1882), at the Salon, at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, the solo expo in 1897.
The works will be shown in a chronological order. In this I follow the Catalogue Critique des Peintures et des Pastels (=CCPP) of Sylvie Brame and François Lorenceau of 2021 (=R396). There will also be referred to the Catalogue Raisonné (=CR) of François Daulte of 1959 (=R129). Sometimes the dating (and the location) varies between these two sources. The deviation will be noted after the CR-number in brackets. The CCPP renders 1013 paintings, more than 25% of them you will find here below (sometimes including details). Some others will be added in the future. Several of these paintings are not in the CR of Daulte (=CR-). A single work also isn’t in the CCPP (=CCPP-).
See also the link for info on the subscriptions of the pictures.
Note: If you double click on the first (of a cluster of) pictures and then click on full screen, you can create a slideshow. Enjoy!

Pastels:
There are also some pastels known of Alfred Sisley. The Catalogue Critique des Peintures et des Pastels (=CCPP) renders 71 pastels made somewhere between 1880-1897 (most of them are not dated). Here below you will find some of them.
