Morisot, 1874 expo

Impressionism, a historical reconstruction:

Berthe Morisot (1841-1895)

An impression of her paintings

at the first ‘impressionist’ exposition in 1874

Introduction:
Here below you will see an impression of the 10 paintings that Berthe Morisot exhibited at the 1st ‘impressionist’ exposition of 1874 (catalogue numbers 104-112+hc). Morisot exhibited 4 oil paintings, 3 pastels and 3 watercolours. I render the pictures in a more thematical order and by format. On a smartphone or laptop you can also zoom in. Enjoy!

See link for an account of my choices (with references, info, discussion, location on Google-maps). My main sources are Moffett (=R2), Dayez (=R87), Berson (R90II) and  Bataille & Wildenstein (R100). Often the indentification of a painting is ‘uncertain’. Sometimes to ‘compare’ another picture is given that is (probably) similar to the painting that was exhibited. For explanation of the subscriptions, see here. My main sources for the pictures are the-athenaeum.org (=iR2), WikiCommons (=iR6) and Google images (=iR10). Sometimes I forgot the source (=iRx). See for the other sources at the bottom of the main page on Berthe Morisot.
