Who were the partakers of the 3rd impressionist exposition?
There were 18 partakers in the 3rd ‘impressionist’ exposition in 1877. Renoir showed his famous Bal du Moulin de la Galette and Monet a serie of the Saint-Lazarre station. Four of them were newcomers, among them Frédéric Cordey, a great but forgotten Impressionist and also the unknown Alphonse Maureau↑. Henri Rouart (no.49) and Alfred Sisley (no.190) were portrayed↑. After the exposition 3 partakers would not return anymore to the ‘impressionist’ expositions. Renoir and Sisley would only return in 1882.
Caillebotte mentioned that Mme de Rambure also exhibited, but she was not in the catalogue (=hc). Probably she was the same as the woman that exhibited under the pseudonym ‘Jacques François‘. So the amount of partakers stays 18.

On this page you will find the catalogue numbers, links to info, pictures, an account and sometimes a (topographical / thematical) overview.

Explanation: hc = hors catalogue = outside the catalogue.
