Meta-Impressionism/ other exhibitions:

Salon

de la Société des Artistes Français

1880

Introduction:
1880 was the first year that the Salon was organised by the Société des Artistes Français (=SdAF). It was the year that Claude Monet returned (for once) at the Salon. A good example of the ambivalent relationship the Impressionists had with the Salon.
On this page you will find short information and some of the pictures exhibited. First you will find highly awarded paintings, that can be seen as the standard of art. Than you will find art-works of the partakers of the ‘impressionist’ expositions. Than some pictures of some related artists. At last you will find some rejected pictures.
Note: If you double click on the first (of a cluster of) pictures and then click on full screen, you can create a slideshow. On a smartphone or laptop you can also zoom in. Enjoy!
