Who were the partakers of the 8th ‘impressionist’ exposition?
There were 18 partakers in the 8th ‘impressionist’ exposition in 1886. Comtesse de Rambure was not in the catalogue (=hc), but she probably had already exhibited in 1876 + 1877 under the pseudonym ‘Jacques François‘. There were 5 newcomers, including Georges Seurat and Paul Signac, who exhibited neo-impressionist paintings. Pissarro and Degas were the principal organizers (R2,p421; R5,p151). Though there would be talks about a new exposition, this one stayed the last.

On this page you will find the catalogue numbers, links to info, pictures, an account and sometimes a (topographical / thematical) overview.

Explanation: hc = hors catalogue = outside the catalogue.
My main sources are Moffett, 1986 (=R2,p443-447), Berson, 1996 (=R90I,p421-425), the Salon database of musée d’Orsay (=iR1) and the sources mentioned in the accounts of the artists.
