Introduction:
This page gives some short information and some pictures on the Salon d’Automne of 1906.
There also were retrospectives held of Paul Gauguin, Eugène Carrière and Courbet.

1906, Salon d’Automne, general info:
The 4th exhibition in 1906 was held from the 6th of October till the 15th of November and was held in the Grand Palais. (The exhibition knew 6 sections: painting; sculpture; decorative art; drawing; engraving and architecture.) The catalogue renders 2238? numbers* (and seperately the numbers of the retrospectives).
The Salon database mentions 623 partakers showing 2238 entries (iR1). DoME (being incomplete) mentions 421 participants showing 1923 works. The organizing committee consisted of 51 members including Guillaumin, Redon and Renoir. The preface was written by Roger Marx. (The art-works were displayed in 18 rooms.)
?Presidents of honor were Renoir and Eugène Carrière. Guillaumin was president of the painting section.
Note*: several numbers contained more than one art-works.
Retrospective Gauguin:
There was a large, posthumous retrospective held with 227 art-works of Gauguin from several collections, including the Schuffenecker collection (no.168-179) (with a preface written by Charles Morice);
Retrospective Carrière:
There was a retrospective held with 49 (or 60) art-works of Eugène Carrière;
Retrospective Courbet:
There was a retrospective held with art-works of Courbet (no titles);
Scandinavian section:
There was a Scandinavian section with 74 seperate catalogue numbers;
Exposition des Affiches et Estampes:
There was an Exposition des Affiches et Estampes (not numbered).
The Impressionists:
Renoir was president of honor and Guillaumin was president of the painting section. (?)
The following 5? partakers of the ‘impressionist’ expositions were present: Cézanne (nos.317-326); Cordey (nos.378-387); Guillaumin (nos.705-711); Redon (nos.1454-61); Renoir (nos.1467-72).

Les Fauves:
Several artists that have become known as Les Fauves, also were present: Derain; Kees van Dongen; Dufy; Friesz; Pierre Girieud (5x, including an hommage to Gauguin↑↑); Manguin; Marquet; Matisse (5x, including 3 still lifes); Puy; de Vlaminck;
Other artists:
Among the other partakers were: Albert André; Bonnard; Robert Delaunay; Eugène Delestre; d’Espagnat; Flandrin; Guérin; Kandinsky; Kupka; Maufra; Henry Moret; Jean Peské; Pinchon; George Manzana Pissarro; Henri Rousseau; Roussel; Walter Richard Sickert; Vallotton; Valtat; Vuillard.
