The Salon of 1863, short info:
The Salon of 1863 (the 81th) lasted from the 1st of May till the 1st of July and took place in the Palais des Champs-Elysées in Paris (iR4;iR3). The catalogue mentions 1906 partakers and 2980 numbers (iR1). Note: relatively small numbers!
The Médaille d’Honneur was awarded to Jean-Joseph Perraud (statutaire), so not to a painter.
3 artists received a 1st class medal: Achille Benouville, Gustave Brion and Michel Dumas; 4 artists received a rappel: Auguste Bonheur, Édouard Cibot, Eugène-Ernest Hillemacher and Désirée-François Laugée. These paintings can be seen as the standard of art.

Then you will find art-works of the partakers of the ‘impressionist’ expositions. Then some pictures of some related artists. At last you will find some rejected pictures.
