Exposition Centennale 1900

L’Art Français (1800-1889)

A chronological overview

General info:
The Centennial Exposition, alongside the Exposition Universelle in 1900 in Paris, was officially called ‘Exposition Centennale de l’Art Français (1800-1889)’. It rendered an overview of French art from about 1800 till 1889 (in fact this period was more extended). It included about 672 oil paintings of which 200 will be shown here below in a chronological order. See the page Exposition Centennale for an alphabetical order with separate attention for the partakers of the ‘impressionist’ expositions.
If you double click on the first picture and then click on full screen, you can create a slideshow. Within 17 minutes you will be guided through a chronological overview of the French art from about 1780 – 1890. Seeing examples of various painting styles and themes. With about 30% of all the paintings exhibited you will receive an extended impression of this ‘Exposition Centennale de l’Art Français’. Enjoy!
