Sisley Salon SNBA 1890-1898

Impressionism, a historical reconstruction:

Alfred Sisley

(1839-1899)

Salon de la SNBA

Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts

1890 – 1898

Introduction:
On this page you will find an impression of the pictures that Alfred Sisley showed at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts (SNBA) from 1890 till 1898*. These expositions were held at the Champ-de-Mars in the Palais des Beaux-Arts. Sisley showed 5 à 8 works per year, which is more than was common at the Salon. He did so as ‘associé de la Société nationale des Beaux-Arts’.  Many works he showed are not identified, see account. At the bottom of this page you will find an overview and an explination.
Many titles render an indication of location. And many titles render the time of day, season, month and/or weather conditions. So, typical titles belonging to an impressionist painting style.
Note*: Sisley died 1899/01/29.

I will render the pictures by form and in order of year exhibited. If you double click on the first (of a cluster of) pictures and then click on full screen, you can create a slideshow. On a smartphone or laptop you can also zoom in. Enjoy!
