The Salon (de la Société des Artistes Français) of 1899 (the 116th) started the 1st of May in the Galleries des Machines in Paris. The catalogue mentions 3695 partakers and 5182 numbers (iR1;iR4;iR3).

Highly awarded art-works:
The following painters were highly rewarded at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français (=SdAF) of 1899. This can be seen as the standard of art. The rewards were distributed the 3rd (or 4th) of July (R337/1900,pIX)
Paul Chabas received a Prix Nationale.
Francis Taittegrain received a Medaille d’Honneur (for painting).
20 artists received a 2nd class medal for painting, 28 artists a 3rd class medal and 52 an honorable mention.
Several works were (assigned and) purchased by the State, namely: Henri Martin.
