The Salon of 1861, short info: The Salon of 1861 (the 80th) started the 1st of May in the Palais des Champs-Elysées in Paris (iR4;iR3). The catalogue mentions 2112 partakers and 4191 numbers (iR1). Note: more info will follow.
Highly awarded art-works: (In the future) you will find some paintings that were highly rewarded at the Salon of 1861*, that can be seen as the standard of art. Note*: works that received a medal of honor, works that received a golden medal, were (assigned and) purchased by the state; of artists that later that year were appointed in the Légion d’Honneur as Officier or higher.
