The Salon of 1868, short info: The Salon of 1868 (the 86th) started the 1st of May in the Palais des Champs-Elysées in Paris (iR4;iR3). The catalogue mentions 3137 partakers and 4283 numbers (iR1), this is much higher than the years before. Note: more info will follow.
Highly awarded art-works: (In the future) you will find some paintings that were highly rewarded at the Salon of 1868*, that can be seen as the standard of art. Note*: works that received a medal of honor, works that received a golden medal, were (assigned and) purchased by the state; of artists that later that year were appointed in the Légion d’Honneur as Officier or higher.
