Monet 1883 solo expo

Impressionism, a historical reconstruction:

Claude Monet

(1840-1926)

1883 solo exposition

at Durand-Ruel

What paintings of Monet were shown in 1883 at the solo exposition?
In 1883 the art-dealer Durand-Ruel organised a series of solo expositions at his new gallery at 9, Boulevard de la Madeleine, Paris. In March he organised the “Exposition des oeuvres de Cl. Monet”. 56 works of Claude Monet were exhibited + 4x outside the catalogue = 56+4hc=60. All works were loans of art-collectors, including 12 of Durand-Ruel. On this page you will find many of the works that were shown at this exposition.
These solo expositions held in 1883 (and later) by Durand-Ruel can be seen as an alternative for the ‘impressionist’ expositions held between 1874 – 1886. These solo expositions were a way of being promoted for the artist and (indirectly) to sell their art-works.
I will render the pictures by form and in order of the catalogue numbers. Note: If you double click on the first (of a cluster of) pictures and then click on full screen, you can create a slideshow. Enjoy!

Account:
On the general page on the solo expositions held in 1883 I render a short account of the works that were exhibited.
Note: the indentification of a painting is not always certain. See links for practical hints and abbreviations and for the subscription of the paintings.
