Introduction:
This page renders short information on (Dottore) Georges de Bellio and his art collection.
The emphasize is on the works of the partakers of the ‘impressionist’ expositions.
De Bellio collected namely many works of Claude Monet. He did loan 13 paintings to the ‘impressionist’ expositions.

Short biography:
Georges de Bellio is also called Dottore (=doctor) de Bellio (R31,p6). He was born in Bucharest, Rumania.
He joined the impressionists at their meeting points, including dinners at café Riche.

Loans to the ‘impressionist’ expositions:
Georges de Bellio did loan 13 paintings to the ‘impressionist’ expositions.
In 1877 3 paintings of Monet (no. 95, 96, 98) and 3 of Sisley (no. 214, 215, 216).
In 1879 6 paintings of Monet (no. 145, 146, 152, 164, 165, 166).
And in 1881 one painting of Gauguin (no.33). (R2;R90II,p285).

Collection, overview:
The collection of Georges de Bellio consisted of many impressionist works, namely of Monet (38?). And also of Degas, (2), Guillaumin (5), Cals (1), Lépine (1), Lebourg, Piette, Pissarro (11), Renoir (>3) and Sisley (2or4). It also consisted of works of Bonington, Corot, Daumier, Daubigny, Delacroix, Gragonard, (Eva) Gonzales (1), Goya, Manet, Maufra, Monticelli, Oller (1), Quost and (Hubert) Robert. Several works of his collection are now in the Musée Marmottan (=M2).
