Tillot: 1881 expo

Impressionism: a historical reconstruction

Charles-Victor Tillot

(1825-1906)

At the 6th impressionist exposition in 1881

an impression of his exhibited art-works

Which art-works did Tillot exhibit in 1881?
On this page you will find an accounted impression of the about 13 art-works that Charles Tillot showed at the 6th ‘impressionist’ exposition in 1881 (catalogue numbers 140-149). There were 5 reviews, but there are hardly pictures known of Tillot, so identification is almost impossible. I mostly render to compare compilations of pictures, also using pictures of other artists or even photo’s. (The things that fit are indicated with a green colour, that don’t fit in a red colour and that partly fit in an orange colour.) In this way I hope to give at least some impression of what Charles Tillot did exhibit in 1881. See my account. Here below you will find a more thematical representation of his exhibited works. In the slideshow you will find them in the order of the catalogue numbers.
For info on the sources see at the bottom of the main page about Charles Tillot. Enjoy!

Landscapes:
Charles Tillot showed 3 landscapes; 1 marine was made at in Villers-sur-Mer (50km south of Le Havre) (no. 146) and two studies made in Saint-Malo (no.147 +148). See the account.

Flower still lifes:
Charles Tillot showed 3 flower still lifes (no.140-142). I render a compilation of a painting of Tillot and one painting of another artist (Fantin-Latour) that better fits (a part of) the catalogue title. See the account.

Figure paintings:
Charles Tillot showed 3 figure paintings (no.143 +144 +145). I render to compare 3 paintings of other artists, namely Fantin-Latour and Jean-Jacques Henner.

Studies:
No. 149 showed 1 frame with studies and sketches after nature. I assume Charles Tillot showed at least 4 pictures. I render one frame containing 4 studies of other artists (Rousseau and Corot) just to render some impression. See the account.
