1832 – 1883
Manet, Edouard (1832-83)
Seen as the leader of the impressionist art-movement. Still it is under influence of Morisot and later of Monet in 1874 that he started to paint in a more impressionist painting style (R3,p162-5). Before that he used a lot of blacks and browns. And he never wanted to join the ‘impressionist’ expositions, preferring to submit to the Salon.
