1879-20          Portrait de Mme C…
Moffett suggests CR85 in a private collection in France. As an uncertain suggestion I give: 1877, Portrait of Mme. Martial Caillebotte (The Artist’s Mother), 83×72, private, (iR2). Probably Caillebotte also exhibited this work as 1877-4 which has the same title.

1879-21          Portrait de Mme B…
Moffett suggests C68 in MFA in Houston. Probably now: 1877, Portrait of Madame Boissière Knitting, 65×80, MFA Houston, (iR2;R2,p266).

1879-22          Portrait de Mme H…
Moffett suggests CR55 in a private collection in Paris. now probably: 1877ca, Portrait of a Young Woman in an Interior (Portrait of Madame H), 81×65, private Paris, (iR2;iR11)

1879-23          Pêche à la ligne ; panneau décoratif
Eng.: fishing on the line (decorative panel). For me it is not clear what ‘panneau décoratif’ indicates. Moffett suggests CR89 in a private collection in Paris. Maybe now: 1878, Fishing, 157×113, private (iR2).

1879-24          Baigneurs; panneau décoratif
Moffett suggests CR90 in a private collection in Paris. Maybe now: 1878, Bathers, 157×117, private Paris, (iR2). Note that the drawing of Draner in ‘Le Charivari’ indicates a swimmer with a striped swim-suite (R2,p255), more like in the pastel depicted in 1879-26.

1879-25          Périssoires; panneau décoratif
Moffett suggests CR91 in the MBA Rennes. Now: 1878, CR91, Périssoires (The Canoes), 157×113, MBA Rennes (iR2;R41,p95;R3,p185).

1879-26          Baigneurs (pastel) ; appartient à M. G. M…
Moffett suggests CR78 in Musée d’Agen. Now probably: 1877, Bathers, Banks of the Yerres, pastel, 75×95, Musée d’Agen, (iR2;R16,p88;R2,p267).

1879-27          Canotiers (pastel)
Moffett suggests CR 77 in a private collection in Paris. Maybe now: 1877, Boaters on the Yerres, pastel, 52×86, private Paris (iR2).

1879-28          Vallée de l’Yerres (pastel) ; appartient à M. E. M…
Moffett suggests CR99. Maybe now: 1877, La Vallée de l’Yerres, pastel, 57×71, auctioned 2012/05/02 (iR11). The owner maybe was Eugène Daufresne, see 1879-18.

1879-29          Potager (pastel)
Moffett suggests CR63. Maybe now: 1877, Jardin potager, Yerres, pastel, 44×58, auctioned 2018/03/22 (iR11).

1879-30          Rivière d’Yerres (pastel) ; appartient à M. K…
Moffett suggests CR100. As a very uncertain suggestion I give: 1877, Canotier sur l’Yerres, pastel + gouache, 82×66, auctioned 2014/11/04 (iR11;iR2). I couldn’t find a work that merely depicted the river Yerres

1879-31          Prairie (pastel)
Moffett suggests CR101 in a private collection in San Francisco. To compare I give a pastel of a man lying in the grass: 1877, The Nap, pastel, 36×53, Hartford (iR2) and a later oil painting: 1880-4ca, Les champs, étude en jaune et vert (plaine de Gennevilliers), 54×65, A2009/11/05 (iR11;iR2).

1879-31+hc1  Une vache et une chèvre
Eng.: A cow and a goat. Moffett suggests this work (which was not in the catalogue =hc= hors catalogue) was exhibited, because Draner draw in ‘Le Charivari’ a painting depicting a cow and a goat. But for me it is not clear why Moffett indicated this as a painting by Caillebotte. I couldn’t find a painting of Caillebotte with a cow and / or a goat. So just to compare I give a painting depicting a horse: 1871-8ca, Yerres, Reddish Bay Horse in the Stable, 31×43, private (iR2).

1879-31+hc2  Un soldat
Moffett suggests Caillebotte exhibited outside the catalogue (=hc = hors catalogue) the following work: 1879ca, CR170, a soldier, 106×75, Josefowitz collection Lausanne or auctioned 20020507 (iR2;iR11;R2,p275;R41,p10). Again because of a drawing of Draner in ‘Le Charivari’ in which a board guard his uniform resembles very much this soldier (R2,p255+275).

1880 catalogue: (R2,p310/1; iR1)

1880-6             Dans un café
Now: 1880, CR134, In a Café, 155×115, MBA Rouen (iR2;iR3;R2,p292;R41,p50)

1880-7             Portrait de M. J. R.
Moffett suggests CR117 in a private collection in Paris. Maybe: 1879, Portrait of Jules Richemont, private, (iR2). Compare also 1879-19 Portrait de M. R…

1880-8             Portrait de M. G. C.
Moffett suggests CR131. Maybe: 1879-80ca, Self Portrait with Easel, 90×115, private (iR2;R2,p310,R41,p32)

1880-9             Intérieur
1880-10          Intérieur
Moffett only gives a suggestion for no. 10: CR127 in a private collection in Paris (R2,p310+299). He also mentions this was previously thought to be CR130.  I follow Moffett’s suggestion for no.10. For no. 9 I give as an uncertain option CR130, the one that Moffett reserves for no.12: 1880, CR130, Interior, woman at the balcony, 116×89, private Paris, (iR2;R2,p319;R41,p62).

1880-11          Nature morte
Moffett suggests CR123 in a private collection in Boston (R2,p310+320). I follow.

1880-12          Vue prise à travers un balcon
Moffett suggests CR130 in a private collection in Paris (R2,p310+319). So this is the one previously thought to be no.10. Moffett also mentions no.12 previously was thought to be CR138. Here I don’t follow Moffett. I think CR 130 is more fit for no.9. And I think the title of ‘1880, View Seen Through a Balcony, xx, VGM Amsterdam (iR2;R41,p42)’, is more close to the title in the catalogue.

1880-13          Vue de Paris, soleil
Moffett suggests CR142 ‘perhaps Josefowitz Collection’. Probably: 18xx, View of Paris, xx, Josefowitz collection Lausanne (iR49). As another option I also give: 1880, La place Saint-Georges, 73×92, auctioned 2017/11/14 (iR11).

1880-14          Portrait de M. C. D. ; pastel
Moffett suggests CR71. Probably: 1877, Camille Daurelle in the Park at Yerres, pastel, 56×44, private (iR2).

1880-15          Tête d’enfant; pastel
Moffett suggests CR70. Probably: 1877, Portrait of Camille Daurelle, pastel, 40×32, private (iR2)

1880-16          paysage; pastel
Moffett suggests with a perhaps CR102 auctioned in Hôtel Drouot on 1972/03/09 under no.131. The title is very common, so hard to identify. I couldn’t find many pastels Caillebotte has made.  So to compare I give an oil painting: 1880, Cliffs in Normandy, 73×60, Brooklyn M (iR6;iR2). The pastel I used for 1879-28 also is an option: 1877, La Vallée de l’Yerres, pastel, 57×71, A20120502 (iR11).

1882 catalogue: (R2,p394; iR1)

1882-1            Partie de bézique
Moffett suggests CR165 in a private collection in Paris (R2,p394+396). I follow.

1882-2            Homme au balcon
Moffett suggests CR139 in a private collection in Switzerland. Compare 1882-11. I render two uncertain options: ca 1880, The Man on the Balcony, 116×90, private (iR2;R41,p14) and: 1880 Man ont the balcony (Boulevard Haussmann), 117×90, auctioned 2000/05/08 (iR3;iR11;iR15;R41,p67).

1882-3            Chemin montant
Moffett mentions this was previously thought to be CR176, but he doesn’t give an alternative. As an uncertain option I give: 1881, Rising road (Chemin montant), 100×125, auctioned 2003/11/04 (iR6;iR2;iR11)

1882-4            Fruits
Moffett suggests CR 178 in the MFA Boston (R2,p394+374). I follow.

1882-5             Portrait de M. G.
Moffett suggests CR167 in a private collection in Paris. As an uncertain option I give: 1881, Portrait of Richard Gallo, xx, NAMA Kansas City (iR6).

1882-6            Portrait de M. F.
Moffett suggests CR169. As a very uncertain option I give: 1881, Portrait d’homme, 46×38,  auctioned 2018/05/15 (iR11). And to compare I give: 1885, Portrait of a Man Writing in His Study (Émile-Jean Fontaine), 66×82, Josefowitz collection (iR2; R41,p23).

1882-7            Villers-sur-Mer
Moffett suggests CR 153 in a private collection in Paris. As an uncertain suggestion I give: 1882, The Sea at Villerville, private (Paris), (iR2).  For a second option see 1882-13.

1882-8            Marine
Moffett suggests CR152 in a private collection (R2,p394+397). I follow: 1880-4ca, Seascape, Regatta at Villers, 74×100, private(iR2;R2,p397;R41,p79).

1882-9            Route d’Honfleur à Trouville
Eng.: the road from Honfleur to Trouville. Moffett suggests CR174 in a private collection in Paris. As two uncertain suggestions I give for no.9 and for no.16 ‘chemin vert’ = CR175: 1880, Allée sous bois (en Normandie), 66×54, private (iR6) and: 1882, Allée sous-bois en Normandie, xx, xx (iR6). And to compare I also give a bit later work: 1883, Allée de la villa des fleurs à Trouville, 60×73, auctioned 2018/11/12 (iR11).

1882-10          Boulevard vu d’en haut
Moffett suggests CR143 in a private collection in Paris (R2,p394+143). I follow: 1880, CR143, Boulevard Seen from Above, 65×54, private Paris, (iR2;R2p375;R41,p41).

1882-11          Balcon
Moffett suggests CR136 in a private collection in Paris (R2,p394+398). I follow: 1880, CR136, A Balcony, 68×61, private, (iR2;iR3;R2,p398).

1882-12          Paysage (environs de Trouville)
Moffett suggests CR171 in a private collection in Paris. As an uncertain option I give: 1882, A Garden in Trouville, 65×82, auctioned 2011/11/03 (iR2;iR11). For another option see 1882-14: 1882, Seashore, Trouville, xx, private (Paris) (iR2). Compare no.9 which is also made in Trouville.

1882-13          Bois près de la mer
Eng.: Wood near the sea. Moffett suggests CR172. As an uncertain option I give: 1882, La mer, vue de Villerville, 60×74, auctioned 2005/11/02 (iR11;iR2). This work also could be an option for 1882-7.

1882-14          Marine, pastel
Moffett suggests CR173. To compare I give: 1882, Seashore, Trouville, xx, private (Paris) (iR2). A work the is also an option for 1882-12. Compare also 1882-8.

1882-15          Pommiers
Moffett suggests CR161 in a private collection in Paris with a perhaps. As an uncertain option I give: 1880, Apple Trees on edge of Sea, Trouville, 65×55, auctioned 2008/06/25 (iR2;iR11). The fact this work is painted in Trouville as several other pictures Caillebotte exhibited, pleads for this option. To compare you could look at a later work: 1885ca, Apple Tree in Bloom, xx Brooklyn Museum (iR2).

1882-16          Chemin vert
Eng.: green road. Moffett suggests CR175 in a private collection in Paris. As two uncertain suggestions for no.16 and for no.9 ‘route d’Honfleur à Trouville’ = CR174 I give: 1880, Allée sous bois (en Normandie), 66×54, private (iR6) and: 1882, Allée sous-bois en Normandie, xx, xx (iR6).

1882-17          Pêcheur
Moffett suggests an old work CR36 in a private collection in Paris. Maybe: 1876ca, Fishermen on the Banks of the Yerres, 66×50, private (iR2;iR49).

1882-17+hc    Couple sortant d’une mare
Eng.: Couple leaving for the lake. Moffett mentions Caillebotte showed this work outside the catalogue. To compare I give: 1888, Three Fishermen in a Boat, 25×32, private (iR2). But maybe the following work is a better option: 1877, Boaters on the Yerres, pastel, 52×86, private Paris (iR2;R2,p394). But I already used it for 1879-29.
